Wilco Precast supplied 75 left-handed and 75 right-handed precast panels for the recently completed Half Moon Bay Marina breakwater. Manufactured using standard and self-compacting 50 MPa concrete mixes, the complicated formwork for each panel had to cope with cast-in corbels of different heights and lengths, all set at an angle of 7° from the horizontal.

The flat external panel faces had cast-in decorative formliner rebates and all surfaces were coated with Sika Antisol A curing compound after being lifted from the moulds. Weighing 14.5 tonnes each, the panels were barged out to the site and lifted into position by mobile crane. The corbels hooked on to r200 CHS steel beams which were attached to piles driven into the seabed.
